Making-of KASEMATTEN with a Drone |

Photo Story of the drone shots for the book "KASEMATTEN" and how it ended! |

Photo Shootings from 4 June 2013 |
On that specific day, we did several drone photo shootings of the fortifications of Luxembourg-City. Below are two of those shootings presented in detail.
1) Here are the two drone shots of the "Bockfiels" fortification, published in the book "KASEMATTEN - Auf Spurensuche in der Festungsstadt Luxemburg".
...and here how the drone photo shooting was done: Notice the use of a very expensive octocopter with a Canon 5D Mark II and a 20mm lens attached to it. That were the beginnings of drone photography - unbelievable how the drone technology has evolved and has got accessible for everybody in the meantime.
2) Here is the drone shot of the "Fort Lambert" fortification, published also in the same book. This was the last shot taken with the drone before the shooting abruptly ended!
...and here is why: Although we had finished the shooting at this second site, we opted for an additional flight as we had a full battery left. Unfortunately, the battery connection got in some way loose and the drone felt like a stone to the ground. For a moment time stood still, but at the end we had to face reality, the drone had badly crashed. Surprisingly, the camera was still operational.
